Meet Chef Nan
Chef Nan Yimcharoen is the founder and chef behind Kinkan Market. Originally from Bangkok, Thailand, Chef Nan moved to Los Angeles over a decade ago. During the pandemic, her handcrafted bento boxes became an underground sensation, earning a devoted following among food lovers, artists, and Hollywood creatives.
In 2021, she opened Kinkan, her acclaimed Thai-Japanese kaiseki restaurant, built with her own savings and an inheritance from her grandmother. As both chef and owner, she created a restaurant recognized by Los Angeles Magazine and The Infatuation as one of Los Angeles' best new restaurants.
Chef Nan's passion for hospitality began in her family's dinner cruise business in Thailand, where she learned from her grandmother, who once cooked for the Thai royal family. She later trained under respected Japanese chefs, developing a deep appreciation for Japanese craftsmanship, seasonal ingredients, and the beauty of thoughtful simplicity.
Today, Kinkan Market is the next chapter in that journey. Inspired by Japan's fish markets and everyday food culture, Chef Nan brings exceptional seafood, handcrafted bento, and carefully selected Japanese pantry items to Hermosa Beach—making high-quality Japanese takeaway part of everyday life.
